Major
Prize Winner
The winner of the
$5,000 major prize (donated
by Tackle World Canberra) at the 2008 Canberra Carp-Out was Jade Anderson.
Additional Mystery Weight Prizes were awarded for Junior Boy, Junior
Girl and Adult categories. Heaviest Redfin and Heaviest Carp prizes
were also awarded in these 3 categories.

Event
Proceeds
50% of the proceeds
of the 2008 Carp-Out were donated to the Eden Monaro Cancer Support
Group, who provide financial and other support for families of cancer
sufferers in the ACT region. The other half of proceeds were added to
our Club's fish stocking fund, which is used to stock native fish (Murray
Cod and Golden Perch) into the local lakes.

Entrant Details
A total of 1,411
entrants registered for the 2008 Canberra Carp-Out.
A breakdown of entrants by type is below:
- 1,411 entrants,
with 1,055 pre-registered and 356 entering on the day;
- 922 adults (688
male, 234 female);
- 489 juniors
(329 male, 160 female).
2008
Capture Details
In 2008, a total
of 702kg of pest fish (European Carp and Redfin) were removed from Lake
Burley Griffin. Statistics on the captures are as follows:
- 793
fish caught in total (336 Carp, 457 Redfin);
- 609kg of carp
caught, average weight of 1.8kg;
- 93kg of Redfin
caught, average weight = 200g;
- Heaviest Carp
= 6.23kg, heaviest Redfin = 1.28kg;
- Adults
caught 547 fish, juniors caught 246 fish.
